I still prefer a5 speed manualhave had autos tried aDSG on approplaying rally driverbut didnt buy itnovelty soon wears off . But less 7 less manufacturers are making manuals- they say demand is declining rapidly & drivers want more bells & whistles rather than a "driverscar ' Even likes ofBMWonly put manual on thesmallbasicmodels

That isn't true, you can get the performance versions of all BMWs with a normal manual (even the M6).

Its true not many are optioned that way, but it doesn't mean the manual isn't available.

Tiptronic
This is a car transmission that allows the driver to switch the transmission between fully automatic, or manual. Obviously it is a clutchless manual. This gearbox is the future.
Audi is the latest to create the world's finest 'tiptronic' gearbox, and it's called 'DSG', which stands for 'Direct Shift Gearbox'. This allows the driver to change gear using the 'tiptronic' setting faster than any driver in the world would using a manual transmission. Also you can change gear on the steering wheel, as seen in F1.
