got a honda g42- motor, running like a bucket of poos, takes an eternity to start and runs rough as, any tips on tuning these as it is not my usual forte.

fault codes! running on 98, running rough, dies as soon as you put any load on it, cant see any marks on carb to see what sort it is to google for tuning tips.

Check ya air filter for any blockage any oil on it anything like that. I remember with the old B&S engines around that era needed the air pick up to be partially soaked in petrol to run any good. Give it a try see what happens. How old is the spark plug in it! Might be dirty give that a clean with a wire brush. on top of that check for anything that may cause a fuel blockage. Regards Anton

G40's and possibly 42's can have a large diaphragm in the carburetor that can fail with time and cause problems. Worth checking.
