#3Technically it will be deemed a classic in two years - that being in terms of NZTA registration costs etc.
Will it be considered "classic" in the eyes of motoring enthusiasts! I somehow doubt it.
Will it become an appreciating assett! I rather doubt that too.

#4I had one about 6 years ago - paid $180 for it and sold it for $500 after a year. Maybe I should have kept it for my retirement fund!

#5It's about as classic as a ford 10 or a morris 8, a heap of crap in it's day which age does not improve.

#6I've owned and got rid of a few cars now that have appreciated considerably. If only I had known at the time.

#7I thought classic (cheap) licensing kicked in at 40 years not 30, has it changed!

#8No. Still 40 years. My 71 xy falcon only got cheap rego last year.

#9Rubbish not a classic untill they are 40 years old.

#10Might be a classic for some - I'd love another 84' corolla hatch if it was minty. Raise it, chuck some balloon tyres on it. sweet.

#11Certainly looks tidy, but a future classic.I doubt it. Nothing wrong with that though, I own a 40+ year old car and most people wouldn't define it as a classic.

#12About as classic as a hillman hunter, and about the same shape.

#13Actually on second thoughts a classic is such an open ended question/opinion that sod what anyone elses says or thinks of it.

#14Just a run of the millfamily car from 80 snothing classic about itregardless ofconditionstill only worth$1500

#15Not really my cup of tea, but any car that reaches that sort of age in that sort of condition is worthy of a certain base level bit of respect IMHO.

You do hear the odd (odd!) person raving about their old 1980s Mitsi Sigma they used to have, and how good it was, not every car attracts fans like that.

#16classic my bottom.

but like richardmayes says, it's a matter of taste

#17Not to my taste, but look at the money some older 70's Japanese cars are fetching now, if you'd suggested 10-15 years ago that 70's Corollas or Datsuns would in time be classics worth real money people would have looked at strangely.

I drove one of these Sigmas for a while a few years back, and have to admit it was a nice car to drive

#18If it was a V3000 I would say yes. Very tidy one though

#19Future classic! No. A Peugeot 205 GTi is a future classic though.

#20If any of those Sigma models are going to become classics in future, then the GSR and GSR-X will. Back in the day for a couple of years they were the car to have for the typical middle-income family. I also remember the NZ New ST170 Corona GLXi then the Telstar XRi also being considered as the family "bees knees" cars to have of their period and pricepoint, esp when compared to what else you could have gotten brand new for similar money.
