| #1 | Was doing the valve clearances on my v-twin, which is a bugger of a job at the best of times, but today, I managed to drop the 8mm spanner. and it vanished. I didn't really see it drop, I heard it tinkle tinkle through the bike, and when I went to pick it up a couple seconds later. not there. Spent 2 hours looking for it with torches.Going over every inch of the bike. Now I have this terrible thought that somehow, a 1 in a billion chance, it has fallen so perfectly that it has gone through the open valve cover and dropped right on down inside the engine, so deep and perfectly that I can't see it at all. Drained the oil and peered down past the cam chain, but just can't see it there at all. I'm almost at the point where I'll have to literally disassemble the entire bike to find this damned 8mm spanner (which, knowing my luck, I still won't find)! | Driver_bitsy_boffin Feb 21, 2012, 10:29 pm |
| #2 | Perhaps before you start pulling it apart look around for one of those "cameras on a stick" some of these have about 300mm probe with a small screen(see trade me) then perhaps with aid of one of those three pronged pick up things(that mechanics use) & the camera you may be able to retreive your spanner good luck | Driver_taipan4 Feb 21, 2012, 10:34 pm |
