When fitting new lifters,do you cover and soak them in oil for a few days before installing !

your ment to prime them before instaling. never have at work, just put them in, drain oil, change filter, add new oil and start car. may take a few minutes for them to pump up

I used to with old school chev 8, holden 6 stuff etc, used to put them in a container of oil and use a pushrod to push the plunger up and down.

they should have a blurp with them regarding pre treatment prior to fitting, it will not entail 'a couple of days' but will lay out the procedure to pre charge them

most don't bother - a good quantity of oil in and around them at fitting and allow for a few seconds of noise when first fired up, you can fiddle around with them in a jug of oil and pump them until no air comes out of them but if then fitting to a partially assembled engine they would be dry again by the time you get to fire it up
