Quick question as I just want to make sure.
I still use miles per gallon, as old school, but was wondering if there is an easy way to work out litres per 100 Km's!
Was thinking you divide the Km's by the litres, is that correct!
Thanks,
Ian

282.4 divided by mpg=litres/100km
eg
282.4 divided by 28.24mpg=10 litres/100km

3.76 litres makes a gallon in good ol USA and 4.546 litres makes a gallon down under.I thought, thought again thanks to the edit function and it was that late that no-one saw my first calculation thus retaining my respect of knowledge.oh shite, did I say that out loud !

Easy way to work out L/100km is to take how many litres it took to fill, divide that by your distance in units of 100km.

For example 55L over 635km: 55/6.35 = 8.66L/100km
or. 27 litres over 580km: 27/5.80 = 4.65L/100km

Cripes - none of those sound like the sort of simple calculations you have sloshing around in your head.

I remember three simple ones:

4.5l = 60mpg
9l = 30mpg

And in the middle is 6.7 which is, give or take, 45mpg.

Give or take.

Ok, thanks, but looking for something I can work out, without having to find a computer.
Seems like basic math, but just need the formula.

For miles to km you generally divide by 5 and multiply by 8

unbeatabull, Mar 31, 8:03am
Litres divide by mileage multiply by 100.

30 Litres Divide by 600 k = .5 times 100 equals 5 litres to 100km
