Nissan March Cam Chain

Friend has one which he says is 1500cc and has developed a "camchain rattle' he thinks I,ve heard these are rather expensive to replace. Are the tensioners hydraulic and is it possible that some crud has got in and is stopping the tensioner working properly. PS the rattle is only on startup and goes after a short time .sorry have no idea of model/mileage etc

The Nissan March is prone to timing chain stretch, replacement timing chain and tensioner etc is the only fix, very common on many Nissan engines.

Wonder who has all these problem engines.
I have a 97 GA15, had a QG15 with 200k, sr20 150k, HR15 100k.
None with issues.

you are half right. The march 1200 has a rep for chain stretch.
The 1500 not so much.

He says its a1500.Just wondered if an engine flush would clear any possible gunk out of tensioner if its hydraulic ,or something likeMBL8.He does his own servicing so maybe a lighter oil. will ask him what grade he uses.I was told years ago always use the best oil you can afford!

Now it is not the best oil, It is the right oil, not 20w/50 from The Warehouse. (o:
