Gubberment got us over a barrel

Put one of my bikes on rego exemption today, have done this before but only ever when the rego was out or a continuation. This time I had a month left, I thought that month would stay valid until it was bought off exemption or at the very least they could refund me my $43.41, and I had to pay $5.50 for the privilege, pretty piss poor I thought.

Yeah it takes about 5 seconds for a gummit seat warmer on $80K pa to do it

Surely the exemption will start when the current rego runs out.
What was the $5.50 fee for?
Placing a rego on exemption is free on line (isint it?)

Yeah rego only goes on hold at the end of the current licence. Also it used to be free to put it on hold instore but they since "restructured" their fees and now charge to do it in person but it is free online
