Thank you for this. When I read his/her last paragraph I felt really bad about asking for everyone's advice on this vehicle. It's hard when you don't know anything about cars, or are not even that interested in them other than getting in one and driving to where you want to go - lol. They can be a big cost, so all the help/advice one gets is appreciated.

For what it's worth our friends one, despite being a new vehicle hasn't proven very reliable. Mrs Jazz also finds it's not very pleasant on long trips etc.

To put it in to perspective. The Korando is a cheap product from a cheap manufacturer. It has the lack of refinement and general compromise that goes along with such a product. It probably makes good sense in a market where it is considerably cheaper than the likes of the Yet, but here in NZ it just doesn't add up, not when you can buy an ex demo Yeti for about the same price.

To compare it, the Yeti is the entry level in to a really high quality, range leading series of vehicles from the second largest manufacturer of vehicles in the world. Where Ssangong had to develop the Korando on a limited budget with limited resources and experience to call upon. VW already had a platform they had spend billions of dollars on and have had decades refining through building a massive volume of vehicles. (A platform by the way is basically all the mechanical/electrical/electron-
ic parts of a car, or to look at it another way, everything except the top part of the body).

Because the platform is so popular (most popular vehicle platform in the world) they didn't have to make a big return on their massive design investment from just one vehicle. So the Yeti gets the best of the best engines, transmissions etc but without the big price tag. Sure, it won't have some of the really nice extra touches of it's very expensive siblings wearing Audi and VW badges, but the big important stuff is either the same or from the same design family.

Hope that makes sense and clarify's things a bit.
