Don't paint them, buy replacement black ones and fit them. If you like it keep it. If you don't, or want to sell later, change it back.

I'd leave it alone, your having enough trouble selling it as it is.
But in all honesty, you won't get much over 5.5k if you want it to sell, as its 15 years old. no one wants them, trust me I know, (have owned a lot of Euro cars around this age, bought/sold).

IMO 5.5k is probably on the cheaper side, 6-6.5k is probably more realistic depending on service history, also the M badge is in the wrong place for a motorsport and the kit does not look like a full M bodykit, so VIN checking the options and posting them might help.
