If its a passenger window, it could be the 'lock' switch on the drivers side.

It might be jammed or tight, or there might be a mechanical fault like the motor or mechanism being worn out, or it might be an electrical problem such as the switch or wiring.
First thing is to see if the motor is trying to work. Will it wind down ?
Does it sound as if it's trying to go up ? Try helping it by pulling it up as you operate the switch.

YouTube it mate. Look up your make and model. There will be something on there.
You will have a bunch of hidden clips to pop out. Not to mention a hidden screw or two. Depending on how patient you are this can be easy or painful.

Ok. and does it try to move. creak a little or move a little without actually going up or down ?
Someone will be able to tell you how to get the panel off. Then try moving the window with your hand while operating the button.
