PMO.Just as bad are those people that hardout slam on the brakes first before indicating.
Also people who do not know how to indicate properly on roundabouts.
And people who slow right down on motorway to change lanes, but don't indicate, maybe if you indicated, somebody would know your intentions and give way, instead of stopping in the middle of motorway.

I indicate, I do everything by the book as far as anyone is concerned, I never get pulled over, Iv never had any infringements, and according to many a good driver, yet, everytime i goto take my full drivers licence test i some how fail on some STUPID reasons like "not checking my mirror enough" dude, wtf, if i checked my mirror religiously like they say i should ( every 10 seconds ) that in my eyes is a detraction and a hazard, whats wrong with checking it when slowing,or every 30 seconds like i usually do!

Indicating only takes a split second, its not like you have to walk into a shop, wait in a queue, to turn on your indicator lights.

Your title is incorrect!
I can recall way back in the 90s my brother saying to me that imported cars have the indicator bulbs removed at the dockside because they are rarely used in this country.
The affliction is more noticed in Auckland.

Well it was National "No Indicator" day in New Plymouth yesterday. Everywhere i went they were in front of me. I lived in Auckland for 26 years and to be quite honest the drivers in NP City are much worse.

30 secs is a lifetime. Takes more than that to know what's around you in traffic.

They never used to indicate in NZ.

i followed a cop the other day. never seen him indicate once and he went through a couple of round abouts then turned off on to a side road.

Here in Wellington too. Just the last couple of months indicators have become very optional.

Having worked all over the country I'd have to say Auckland is far from the worst. You may have noticed it more simply due to the sheer volume of vehicles on our roads.

but im driving FORWARD, checking every 10 seconds takes my attention from whats happening INFORNT of you, you may miss seeing a kid run out of behind a car, Id rather check less and know whats infront of me, then behind me
Yeah but every fatal police pursuit, the cops always release a press statement to say they pulled out 30 seconds earlier lol

You don't have to try and read the number plates behind you, just a glance in the mirrors. The windscreen mirror shouldn't take your eyes off what's in front of you.

This little snipet of info was given inthe early 1990s so no doubt has spread with the migrating Jafas.

But your telling that to people who suffer Tunnel Vision.

In 10 seconds a lot can change. The idea is to keep an up to date mental map of everything around you should something untoward occur requiring reflex movements on your part. Ride a motorbike for long enough on the road and it'll become entirely instinctive.

Do you indicate when you are sitting at lights in a Right Turn lane!It always amuses me the number of drivers who sit there not indicating and then as soon as the green arrow comes up and they move off, on goes the indicator light.

I love that part on Shoot 'Em Up when he careers into the driver of a BMW who doesn't indicate and makes him have a head on with a parked car. Feel like doing that every time I see someone who is too lazy to raise or lower their hand a measly half inch to show where they're going.
