Tomtom not pronouncing Maori names - not even

yapper, Sep 10, 12:43pm
trying. I have been told by tomtom support staff to find a computer voice called 'Kate' and use that but it's not on mine. Anyone else have this situation!

Why does it matter!

It's not as if everything has to be so PC.

If you don't like how your Tomtom performs, get rid of it and learn to read a map.

I usually turn my sound off as its annoying. Just look at the street names.

What the muppets above mean is "sorry, we don't know how to help".

why does it matter! how the hell do you know if youre going the right way if it doesnt pronounce the names!
If he wanted to pull over and check a map every 5 minutes he wouldnt have bought a gps would he!
if you bought a gps and it didnt do what it should i.e. give directions, youd want to know why too wouldnt you!

On my unit to get street name pronunciation I have to select a voice which has "TT" after it, out of the 10 voices available only 2 pronounce the street names, if you check your selections you may find the same, if so try a different voice

It would only matter if the whole program was in Maori.
If it's English they're speaking, they can pronounce it exactly how they like!

Thank you very much to the helpful people who have replied.

(I would like the names actually SAID because if you wear driving glasses, they are not the right ones for reading.)

We are quite happy to read maps, but sometimes it's nice to have correct directions. Anyway I am hopeless at maps - DH is good - but if we have a Tomtom, surely it is our business!

As i said thanks to the helpful posters, you are very kind.
