Just bought an immaculate 1992 Mazda MS-8 Efini that has a few little niggles i would like to ask about on how to fix.
The cars two front seat belts retract very slowly. is it just as simple as oiling the belt mechanisms or do they need to be ripped out and replaced. the belt mechanisms are strangely located in the back door and then the belt is fed through a slit in the front headrests.
the other thing is that when the car is warm there is an ever so slight engine miss at idle. e.g. you can feel a little shake every now and then. what would be the common causes of this on the efini's v6 engine!
Thanks guys. all opinions would be appreciated.

pull belts right out, then lightly mist the webbing [that would usually not be revealed] with silicon spray. then work the mechanism a few times. Might help.

As above, but if you are handy, pull the trims off around the reels and blow out dust and grime. Also clean the dirt and debris that usually builds up at the top guide - the shoulder height one. Use a fine flat blade screwdriver or similar.

Ok have put CRC on the seat belts and now they are wroking good as new! Thanks guys.
Anyway i have a new problem with this car (am starting to think i bought a sack of S***T! haha
The idling problem still presents itself every now and again with a slight shake on the odd occasion at the lights. all the cylinders are getting strong spark so what other causes could there be! the engine is a replacement engine with apparently low mileage aswell.
One more issue that has presented itself is the gearbox is clunking from 1st to second gear despite 3000 grand being spent on a full gearbox recondition last year by the previous owner. should i get it flushed even though its not due! thanks guys

Your miss could be anything, wrong temp plugs, sensor issues etc. Have you got receipts of the gearbox overhaul!

Bad idle could be a plug on its way out, fit a new set and see how that goes.

bad idle can be dirty flow meter
redo what you sprayed with WD40.it works a lot better than crc556

what octane do run u it on!, check plugs. get gear box oil changed with manufacturers specified oil. if problems still occur find the receipt and ask the re-builder what they did, if he says anything like he rebuilt the syncro rings he doesn't have any idea of what their doing.

Probably get it tuned up. apart from changing the gearbox oil, and clutch adjustments there is little you can do about the gearbox unless you pull it out. You can double D clutch might make it smoother. If its a $2000 dollar car then just use it and save your money.

Thanks for the feedback guys. double d the clutch! what does that mean. particularly because it is an automatic vehicle. Yes it was a cheapie so I guess you would have to get use to a few little faults and niggles. Will try and take the car back to the gearbox rebuilders and see what they have to say. will have a look at the plugs/oxygen sensors etc tomorow aswell. Thanks guys! :)
