are these anygood,or at least better than the 3.0 import, there are some on here around 160 km 2000 models that seem like quite good value!

They're cheap as no one wants one. Even the factory in Aussie went under and closed.

For the thousands of them around I can count the number of times ive seen them (any mitsi actually) stranded on the side of the road with bonnet up one one hand, even less actaully. So with that small insight I would say they are very unreliable by the looks of it.
I know many people with them of all models and years, and you no what, they update to another, must be the unreliability of them that makes them stick to the same brand.
Most common car on side of road busted seems to be EA falcons.
This will be like the hammering the toyota cavalier gets, So far the one my sister got has been running sweet as a nut. Now that I have said that it will explode into a ball of flames no doubt lol.

agreed. ive heard all the horror stories too. but all the mitsis i have owned have been fantastic cars. maybe i have just been lucky.

NZ new ones seem to be quite good. They drive smoothly, and have plenty of power. Suspension is very basic, nothing sophisticated, rear end is a bit soft. They represent very good value for money, but they depreciate very quickly. Personally, I wouldn't buy one, unless it's dirt cheap (for what it is) and has a service history. Also, the VRX models feel nicer to drive than the poverty packs.

+1, you need to be especially checking during the full prepurchase inspection that the coolant and trans oil have been attended to at least a couple of times, if the coolant is dirty or otherwise weak in appearance (a trained eye can tell or if in doubt get it tested) and the trans oil is anything other than a nice clear pink colour walk away now.Don't buy anything that looks otherwise rough and don't pay too much for it either, as a car they are OK but be mindful you won't get much back when you sell, the public are weary about both fuel economy and long term reliability of these, not 100% justified.

Yes EA's are falling off the road now, I remember in the early nineties when the PI and TC Triumphs were breaking down everywhere, they all seem to end life at a similar time! Those Diamante's are good cars had no problems with the one's I've had I sore one I sold 2 - 3 years ago still going strong had 220k on it then.

I think EAs were falling by the wayside from day one so maybe an unfair judgement LOL.

Actually seeing the EF and EL hitting the skids now, my friend works for the AA equivalent in OZ and every second car is a EF/EL now.

the problem is that most of them eventually get picked up cheap by broke morons who won't spend money on maintenance or fixing things, most EA's broke down because of blocked fuel filters that should have been changed 100,000km ago, thus dead fuel pumps and ignition systems that were completely shagged and burnt the modules out.If anything these days the most common brand of car to come in on a rope is Subaru, for many of the same reasons.
