im wanting to do a circuit of the south island on my Harley may be at xmas. Has anyone on here done it on a bike!

Yep, except invercargill to about Oamaru on state highway goat track. But if ya clever you can aviod it and go on some awsome roads.

NO, its because its a beat up rough, grippy, then smooth then you fall in a pot hole, then theres graveland shit mid corners, road works, lumps in corners and so on. Its just a poor excuse for a road. if it was up to a standered it would be fine. Oamaru North gets better and more of a pleasure to ride. And I dont ride a Harley!

Take a tent and stay at Doc camps, way cheeper than camping grounds.Some even have hot showers.

Join the NZMCA then you will have access to 100's of places throughout the SI to stay overnight .
