mazda famillia 1985 starter motor for my car or can i use one that is similar like a new model or ford!

Needs the mounting ring the same, bolt holes the same, nose projection the same, rotation the same, tooth count the same and the pinion going from the same side. Might be almost as easy to ring a local wrecker and ask them ot put it on Partslink. If you have the engine code it will be even easier and more accurate. Probably have a number at work, wmil@xtra

its a 85. so alot of lasers of the same era and same cc will have the same starter. the engines in alot of them are the same. its just a badge and body looks that changed. trust me. ive owned hundreds of 80s mazdas and lasers.
