It'll require a new ECU and wiring if it's current not running a plug per cylinder or wasted spark system.

Due to the location of the plugs in relation to the exhaust manifold, you really wouldn't want to mount coil packs on top of the plugs. The 5.7 LS1 already has individual coils mounted on the tops of the rocker covers.
