Hey how do I know what heads to buy to suit the motor Im going to build! (351W stroker)Should I look at the rev range they're suitable for! Or is chamber volume or intake runner volume more important! Should I just talk to an engine builder!

Don't just talk to an engine builder . talk to one that specializes in Phords. Before that though, google your type of engine and get familiar with what others are using and whats around so come decision time with the Phord specialist . you are not making one blind.

I really like the sound of the 427CI stroker kits available for the 351W.Everyone seems to just talk about rod ratio with these kits with most people saying its not ideal but not a big problem. Although some people insist a 408 or 393 is going to last longer, everyone who has the 427 seems to highly recommend them. Heads used seem to be generally about 215cc runners and 64cc chambers.

Why don't you use Cleveland heads.Pretty sure they are a straight bolt on. All youneed is a special manifold (which you can buy). By the sounds ofthings, the motorwillbe over square (bore v'srod),Don't do anything until you havetalkedtothepersonbuilding yourmotor.

cleveland heads aren't quite a straight bolt on jobby. The vavle reliefs in the pistons differ to windsor so Boss pistons are required. CHI do nice alloy heads and an intake to suit a 351w. I

was given my mates XY, a 347 (stroked 302) windsor with 2V cleveland heads, to have a play with. It had $18000 spent on the motor, it hit redline insanely quick, motor was built to rev to 9000, but had 7800 rev limiter chip in it when i used it. It had a 200hp nitrous kit on it but i never bothered using that. But his 351c 4V xy was more to my pleasing. it was a cheaper motor to build, and still ran 11.8 sec quarters. The torque of the cleveland was instant, it felt like i was lifting the frontrunners off the ground on launch, tho that could also have been the Cal-track tramp rods which the boss didnt have.
