Question is why has it got a carbon fiber bonnet, is it a race car or are you just wanking

if it was real carbon it would be resin coated & very unlikely to peel off. my guess is it's just a carbon look a like wrap with a coat of clear over it to make it glossy. peel the wrap off & start again.

try shooting thinners with a touch of clear laquer in it, this may melt it together again, but basically the peeling is caused mostly by lazy dumb pricks not colour sanding b4 putting on clear coat. your probably best to block it back with wet and dry, yes ! use a sanding block and not the plam of your hand !

i've been making quite a few carbon bits n pieces for my racecar over the off season. none of my parts has any clearcoat over it, it's all just polished resin & is very smooth n shiney. why would you put clearcoat over carbon unless it's not real carbon. we made the parts from carbon to make them lightweight. why would you add the weight of paint over the top of the carbon! kinda defeats the purpose of using carbon in the first place.

Did you look at some of the things on the website link i posted!

Two things,
1. Do you think the people we made parts for give a rats ar*se 'bout lightness!

2. A CF passerelle with 15 coats of clear is still 50% the weight of the same object in bare alloy.

very good point CUDA.340same as we did to putfinal finish on surf boards

Most clearcoats are there to protect the carbon fibre laminate from the sun and environment that they are in. In our case our clear is a Gelcoat put in the mould first not a clear paint applied afterwards.
