But for some reason it's a blank lol.

I replaced the belts on the bosses (SWMBO) car and now they squeal like you wouldn't believe.

It's a '01 Toyota Vitz, 2NZ-FE motor, replaced power steer belt and belt that drives everything else.

Do i tighten or loosen to stop the squealing!

Yeah yeah i know lol.

TIA.

Here's a clue, they need to be slipping to make that sound.

Bastard,,,lol.

When correctly tensioned you should only be able to twist the belt 1/4 turn or 90 deg. If the belt still squeals, then while engine is running, rub engineers chalk against either side if the belt.

Always had trouble knowing how far to go, that's a handy hint, cheers.

Is that Arnie or Peewee Herman!

As long as the pulleys are aligned then just tighten it. I assume it was fine before changing

AD--what was happening to make you want to change em!

Multi rib belts need to be pretty tight. 4pk belts need about 50 kg tension when new. 1/4 twist measurements are massively inaccurate due to differences in span lengths and belt widths.
Be aware that they dont need to slip for very long until the sidewalls of the "v"s are to worn to grip the pulleys anymore.
