Messy is not the word where strandings or sinkings are concerned. If a 'loss' is declared then insurers pay up across the board, even if some cargo is undamaged. Likewise if a 'General Average' is declared then those with undamaged salvaged cargo have to stump up to pay the losses of the others. It's a wonderful thing, maritime law.

when the wahine went down on board was a sunbeam tiger, i think it was the last one made, they did recover it and restore it, so not all was lost.
