That says a lot about how desirable complicated Mercs are when they get to that age, it probably getting up to that amount of money to fix the wiring loom when it falls apart, and thats just ONE problem. It'd be possible to do a full motor, gearbox and diff overhaul on your Hunter and probably have enough left over for a DIY respray for that money.Apart from the odd dead alternator and starter, a tune up now and again and the odd balljoint and brake pad and tyre to replace theres not much else to go wrong!

From wiki actually: Following the 1967 acquisition of Rootes by Chrysler, the Arrow derivatives were rationalised until only the Hillman Hunter version was left by 1976, at which time it was re-badged as a Chrysler, which it was to be for the remaining 3 years of its life. Hunter production was switched in 1969 to Rootes' troubled Imp plant in Linwood, from its original home of Ryton.

I will be keeping my 1960 Vauxhall Victor,1965 Vauxhall Viva HA and 1982 Mitsubishi Sigma for sure because if my 1997 Honda Accord ever blows a fuse it might cost a fortune to fix.I just drove my 1982 Mitsubishi Sigma (29 years old) with300550 km to Thames return yesterday with no problem.I drove my 1960 Vauxhall Victor (51 years old) to Tairua a couple of weeks ago with no problems.Sure my Honda is great for around town and long distance drives (done Napier and back to Auckland in a day with ease) but really an older car can do it too,its just the drivers that wants it all too easy these days.

Always remember when Dad swaped our Ford Escort for a 6 month old Hillman Hunter thats scarey because it was way back in 1974.lol
We sold it in 1982 to a serviceman who went off to the Falklands two weeks later never to return, the car sat in the Navy Compound for 6 months we have no idea what happened to it after that.

I once owned a sh*t brown coloured HH SW, parked it at the pub I was working at, doors unlocked. After my shift I returned to my car and found a lot of people outside and the police. Two cars either side of my car had been stolen. The only thing missing from my car was the large bit oftin foil between the muffler and back bumper as it kept rattling when driving.Cops were laughing and asked if I wanted to report the tin foil as stolen.
