Who makes/sells accelerator cables!

ginga4lyfe, Oct 19, 12:02pm
Thanks to Jasongroves, My Nissan Sunny now is running beautifuly My only problem is I cannot drive it anymore as the accelerator cable setup is differant, the original one clips into the firewall and is too short and doesnt have a threaded adjustment end were it would attatch to the carb, and the one that will work is the bolt in type were eveything else will work but the cable by the accelerator has to bolt into the firewall, and im not going to drill holes into my firewall to make it fit, so my question is who makes up cables to suit!I have been ringing around for spares( in hopes there is a cablethat will suit) and it seams as though either people dont wreck cars that old anymore, or they just dont wunna know about it ( places like repco )

Out of interest how do motorbike shops etc charge for a new cable to be made up! I need one about 10 feet long made for my project cause the old fwd cable don't reach to the engine in the back

Ill ring them up but i dont think they can remake the clip for the firwall end as its molded to the cable shell, , and yeah I can most likley pull the fat ones ( not that i wunna! )

as a point of interest I used a morse cable from a boat shop on my project.Have threaded inners and a choise of threaded or latch type outer cable mounts. These are available in different lengths from two feet to twenty feet. They do not fail if you mount them properly.

go and see Sterling Clutch and Brake in onehunga in the morning, they should be able to replace the cable inner for you with one that has the correct length and fittings. They can probably modify the outer to suit aswell

ginga4lyfe, Oct 21, 9:06pm
Eh Id have to get a new cable, the old one broke when a car rolled over the clip on the end and mangled it, so its either mod the one i have ( got a few ideas on how to do so ) or get one from Japan :P , Otherwise yeah I would have gone to see Sterling, some time, problem is, im quite busy building a deck after leveling the garden out the back of my place :P I like diggers.
