240 ton per 10 hours just flying and 840 tonn if the plane was consistantly taking off for 24 hours, But really. WHO CARES! its all crap the plants feed off of anyways

with regards to passenger miles, they are very efficient especially considering the speeds involved.

240 ton of fuel over 10 hours divided by 452 people is 530kg of fuel per person. With that 530kg of fuel they will travel almost 9000km, thats only 58kg of fuel every 1000km. My car will use 85.3kg (0.711kg per l) of fuel over 1000km.
The REAL pollution is in the manufacture of cars!

You're comparing a plane with maximum load, to a car with minimum load.Do the maths again with 4 or 5 passengers in your car, or with a plane with 3/4 of the seats empty, or both.

I watch a huge proprtion of cars every day with 1 person in them. Planes are usually fully loaded, cars are usually empty.

Is that meant to say pollution! I thought it was going to be a French recipe.

You bet me to it. I was thinking of some witty comment too (it would've taken a while in coming though).

Oh dear. I was serious, I didn't know what the word was meant to be until I got halfway through reading mess # 1. What seams! a sewing machine!

Do you own a 747 and if not why are you so worried about this fact!
I think it may have been boullion I was thinking of. Here we go "A chicken-based bouillon in the process of preparation. Not to be confused with bullion. Bouillon, in French cuisine, is simply a broth. This name comes from the ."

Yep, its horrible using apple devices, but like I said I don't proof read for casual chat here. Your own isn't perfect either at times.

But if you are going to pedantically correct someone else shouldn't you make the effort to ensure your own correctness

I vaguely recall a press release that stated that Air NZ's domestic ATR-72 turboprop aircraft achieve an overall fuel consumption of 100 miles per gallon per passenger.
.seems pretty good considering they accelerate down the strip a lot harder than a BlueMotion Polo, and they wind up to a much faster max speed.

In case you have trouble reading here is the first comment about spelling correction which I linked to earlier and said the spelling police are out. Never mentioned others spelling like they have to myself, so read again. Fail.

Mine wasn't so much about spelling, I'd be here all day doing nothing else if I picked up every example of bad spelling. It was because the word was so far from the intended one that it rendered the heading incomprehensible and the following post didn't make much sense either.

Fair call its easy enough to read between the lines.
