in a 15km drive back from the movies weve nearly been sideswiped by a lane changer who didnt see us beside her, had 2 cars pull out in front of us at different intersections, a tanker truck run a red light (we had the green for some time & were actually moving, just as well i double checked), someone backing out of a driveway right in front of us & blocked the street then crawled off as if nothing was a problem & finally almost home, down our road a party with cars parked both sides of our narrow dead end so only room for one car width & when halfway through some dick comes flying around the bend having to emergency brake stopping inches from our front bumper then expects us to back up for him! as you can assume we are happy to be home in one piece

Makes you nervous doesnt it! I've had drives like that too, you start to see everyone on the road as a potential accident-in-waiting after a while.

I did have a really bad day for it years ago & it sticks in my mind because I said to the missus "every man & his dogs pulling out on me today" about 200 metres later a dog ran out in front of me

you might pay a little more for fuel but, a BIG 4x4 is cheap insurance, yes !

Not a lot of difference in the last few weeks, they STILL do all of that to my Surf.

AU coon probably uses same fuel around town (way better open road though) & as said before they still do it AND youve still got the hassle of damage, insurance, lost time etc etc to deal with

oh i agree, it's just when ( and not if ) you have a prang you have a much better chance of survival in a BIG 4x4 than your average vehicle. two cases to back up my point. 1lwb safariv 5ttruck almosthead on in 50k area both badly damaged but even score card. 2humber super snipe MkIIv honda civic , 3 x DOA in honda the car was justan unbelievablemess and the snipe had no visible damage

Thank god I live where I do, I was up north on holiday back in May and I was flabbergasted by the absolutely disgraceful displays of idiotic driving I saw in the short time I was there. Sad to say it but there's a large percentage up there that could do with strict refresher courses in driving for sure or even be retrained totally or not be allowed to be driving at all.Nuff said.

I'd prefer a full retest being required every 5-10 years and automatic drivers license suspension and intense retesting when you're at fault in a crash (insurance companies can be the narks). Then we'd see who the good drivers are.
