mate is just driving back from taupo now in a 04 turbo he bought from here paid 10k. from the txts he is pretty excited about how it goes! dont know much about them but i would go for a less modded OG one personally.

peekaboo4u2, Nov 12, 7:44am
my bro had one and frik it could go. coming back from hamilton i drove it and looked down at the speedo n was dng 160 thought i was dng 100 lol heaps of get up n go. real smooth and handles good too. tip if u gonna do a burnout traction control is off when the light is on.
have fun

just my baseless opinions.
1st car has high ks (140k but has leather) - they are 270kw from factory!
2nd car even higher ks (175k) - 1 owner and cheap though
3rd car. lower ks. (100k) looks ok with the stripes! wouldn't pay any more than 15

franc123, Nov 12, 8:18am
140-200 is low to moderate km's for an 8yo Falcon, it certainly isn't high, were not talking Mitsi Diamantes here! You'd have thought that the second car would have sold at that price, its cheap for what it is given that an XT or Futura with similar kms would still be selling for $7-9K.Maybe its the colour lol.

crzyhrse, Nov 12, 8:18am
Go with the mechanically unmolested striped one.

The chip mod one is not going to be producing 300kW reliably with that alone. I have a mate who thought all he had to do was flash the ECU and increase the boost. I warned him but he didn't listen and burned a valve and holed a piston. It went real well for a little while.

My thoughts are Automatics=boring, find a manual one

bevharris1938, Nov 12, 8:30am
Go for a BF mk2 turbo , the 6 speed german trans are alot better, and as good as manual.

v8_mopar, Nov 12, 8:42am
Thinking I will pass on the modded one and I would much like a manual but they are hard to find. Was thinking 15k for the stripped one also.

Found this manual but only two seats is the let down. I wish they had the turbo in a sw, my first choice as I like my xr6 sw I have now

trogedon, Nov 12, 8:45am
In the Show us your car thread you seemed pleased to have got the fleet down to two.

v8_mopar, Nov 12, 9:09am
True :) and Ive been told this buy is an up grade of the xr6 in that pic and not an ad on to the property

v8_mopar, Nov 12, 9:13am
Ive done very well this year Trogedon. Ive sold me Triumph, Land Rover, Velox and last year an ap5

kiwitracy, Nov 12, 10:29am
Go with the stripped one!Seen this one around town and it looks awesome!

kiwitracy, Nov 12, 10:30am
Hey, I'll even offer to drive it down South for you!(If you pay the ferry fare!)

the-lada-dude, Nov 12, 10:40am
this power seems quite possible
say 50 bhp / ltrn/a
boost 0f say 9-11 psi
that would give you about 80 = bhp / ltr
@ 4 ltr
=320 hp ++/- 300 kw

crzyhrse, Nov 12, 10:44am
320HP is 238kW. 300kW is 402HP.

300kW is certainly easily achieveable but my point was not reliably with just with a remap.

crzyhrse, Nov 12, 10:47am
It's not a turbo.

kiwitracy, Nov 12, 10:47am
Also ask for a trans flush to be done on the car :-)

kiwitracy, Nov 12, 10:51am
He should of stayed in Taupo today, The CNI branch of FPV/ Tickford club have their annual Grasskhana today :-)

h.e, Nov 12, 1:02pm
This sounds like a hell of a lot more power for little work done.
Before I go asking q's do you think it sounds right!

a mates brother got 320kw out of a BF turbo without uping the boost.from memory he tweeked the exhaust and imported some computer part from aussie, think he spent 3k on mods

girlracer2005, Nov 12, 1:36pm
dyno tuned cold air box and exhausts and ur hitting around the 300+ rw kw
every one forgets the factory atting is at the flywheel and in the computer mods been done right and dyno tuned you should be able to get around the 300kw at the flywheel

12shirl, Nov 12, 8:26pm
standard ba turbo 240 kw, not 270 as earlier poster said- the typhons are 270kw. stage one flash tune or ecu re-map gives about 45 kw at the fly wheel but be warned some BAs had probs with soft valve springs.Got a quote from a place in chch the other day to do mine-- $ 1250 + gst. The engines take the xtra boost ok but trannies and 5 speed G/boxs can let go. the BA 2 had a 6 speed manual option and bf trannies are ZF 6 speed, much better.

unbeatabull, Nov 26, 8:33am
The newest Typhoons are 310kw.

Very easy to get more power from, they runvery low boost from factory (Ford ones, not FPV) and is a lot of rechipping/ECU support if you wish to add more boost and injectors. We have one that comes in regularly thats had injectors, ECU Remap and More boost (11psi), exhaust, intercoolers and it makes around 398kw ATW (been dyno'd). We always envy the guy who gets to work on it and take it for a roady afterwards!

Don't bother with a manual one, you will spend more time with the clutch in changing gears then driving. Try to get a 6 Speed Auto, great transmission to drive. If you get one over 90k, make sure its had its Trans/Diff/Spark Plugs/Fuel Filter etc done.

rkauto, Nov 26, 9:11am
early ones had issues with valve springs, waste gates to small and making them prone to boost spikes, and injectors getting close to maximum around 400hp.

1fordluva, Nov 27, 10:57am
Trannies let go because, someone in thier infinite wisdom at ford decided they should use a smaller pump.
Just been disscusing this with someone running over 400kw atw, lunched 3 auto,s in a month.
Replaced to an earlier model pump,no more issues.
Cant remember the specs on the pump in trans but it was smaller and flowed alot less.

1fordluva, Nov 27, 11:02am
Something to remember when doing these.
Injectors, once at 90% are a tap,not really on and off.
Bigger injectors are best thing you can do,from memory pump the xr8 injectors in and never be short.
I have a set running my turbo ef,at around 5/6 hundred hp atw its around 75% duty cycle.
