Uncompleted trades - red faces or not!

socram, Nov 13, 5:25pm
Reading the feedback from a successful bidder, who has not responded after 3 emails, I note one red face for the failure to contact and 2 further uncompleted sales. If the buyer doesn't go through and pay, should it be an automatic red face or just an uncompleted sale!

Do I post a red face or just an uncompleted sale and just get my success fee refunded!I haven't needed to post a Red face before, but this buyer only has 30 trades, with 1 redwhen maybe he should already have three (and possibly another soon)which makes a huge difference to their status.

red face them

mugenb20b, Nov 13, 5:41pm
If he's made no contact within a week (which is a reasonable time) = red face.

toyboy3, Nov 13, 5:44pm
why bother red facing, as you only get one back .You still have your goods nothing lost only time , just black list and relist ,and move on

luxy, Nov 13, 6:13pm
yep, forget it u will only get one back

mugenb20b, Nov 13, 6:36pm
So! At least you'll get a response.

unclejake, Nov 13, 10:13pm
You are only thinking of yourself. Feedback is there as a warning to others.

Socram - red face the loser

humvee, Nov 14, 6:18am
An uncompleted trade is not automaticly a failure of the buyer.

I had one where I went to pick up the item and it was rusted out/through and stuffed (ie not as described) seller said he had not realised. We agreed we would not complete trade, he requested fee refund and relisted with correct description.

No one got a red face for that and I have since bought other things from the same trader that I have been happy with

trogedon, Nov 14, 6:21am
Red Face them and ask for your success fee back. Others need to know but he may do it to you - or may not - two guys didn't red face me back when I had to do it to them.

bellky, Nov 14, 6:26am
this ^^ maybe and.

i've waited for 2 full weeks before the buyer made contact. and this was after 2 tm emails and 2 follow ups from me, patience is a virtue lol

kazbanz, Nov 14, 6:47am
and THAT is exactly the issue with the rep system.
Socram SHOULD red rep this trader to warn others of their trade hiustory.
But fear of his record being blemished by a red rep discouragees him from doing so.

socram, Nov 14, 7:36am
I think that is my stance, but I think that TM needs a black face or a pink face for this sort of issue.Toyboy is correct.I haven't lost any money or been ripped off or been supplied shonky goods, so I don't think it deserves a red face, but I'll certainly blacklist. Awarding a red face would probably devalue it.

Ho hum. Will just have to list it again.

Thanks for the responses as these are debatable issues and another opinion or three is always useful.

don_logan, Nov 14, 9:33am
I would red face the looser, if you get one back complain to trademe that it was obvious retaliatory feedback without basis. You will stand a very good shot of having it removed.

NZTools, Nov 14, 10:54am
If you want a red face yourself, give them one. I've often found giving them a yellow face with something like "we havent heard from you yet, could you please try using another email address" gets far faster and far more successfull results. Often it is simply an email glitch that sees them not recieving your emails, or even you not receiving theirs.

When you have exhausted all possiblities, sure give them a reddy, but only after you are 100% sure it isn't you causing the problem. (yes it does happen)

smac, Nov 14, 11:11am
Ya I go neutral feedback with a note I'll change it when I hear from them.

crzyhrse, Nov 14, 11:18am
Depends on why. But in this case a reddie would seem appropriate.

socram, Nov 14, 12:27pm
Received from a a regular who is currently on the naughty step.

"I cant understand people so ready to slam everyone with a reddy. A red face should be reserved for some one that has stolen from you. That has ripped you off, or caused you real issues.
If you slam some one with a reddy just for not completing a trade, what's left to give those that actually are crooks.
Personally I would just move on. Not worth the retaliatory bad feedback just for a bit of revenge.
Or if you do insist on giving them a neg, then give them a bluey. Because that??

trogedon, Nov 14, 2:37pm
I honestly don??

NZTools, Nov 14, 3:32pm
What if it is your own email that is causing the problem!

We have found it better to never assume the customer is the problem when there is a lack of communication. About 2 or 3 out of every 1000 trades we do, our email gets stalled in cyberspace and never makes it to the customer.

However, by being nice about it instead of giving the customer a red face, we can get it resolved easily.

socram, Nov 14, 4:57pm
Fair point, but I rather think that 4 uncompleted trades out of less than 40 trades puts the onus on him rather than my email system.

aktow, Nov 14, 6:41pm
i waited for weeks from one seller, i thought my money was gone but out of the blue, i got a email from him.this trader had lots of trades with only happy feedback so i was stunned why he failed to answer any of my emails,, long story but he had major family problems and went to pieces. he promised to send me my goods straight away,, he also sentlots of extra products as compensation but i was happy to get just what i ordered. i did red face him but after he explained what had happened sorted out his mess, i changed my feedback. if a trader goes that extra yard to sort out a problem then he should get a positive feedback,,, i hate seeing trader put red facesand saying it took 7 days to get to me, never mind it takes three days for the money to clear and one day was a public holiday,,

carmedic, Nov 14, 7:03pm
I think TM feedback needs another colour face for all those failures to complete the auction. I'd suggest a pink:)
The real loosers have plenty of incompletes, I??

trogedon, Mar 2, 4:11am
If we have a Red face it??
