Any idea of MPG

My petrol doesnt last long enough. Damn it.

kwdriver, Nov 14, 6:25pm
We all got that problem + it costs too bloody much!

crzyhrse, Nov 14, 7:29pm
The metric system is the tool of the Devil! My car gets 40 rods to the hog's head and that's the way I likes it!

To be honest it doesn't bother me in the slightest - I'm perfectly comfortable working in either metric or imperial. Often both at the same time like my grandmother who went to buy some material for curtains and asked for a 200cm drop plus 6" for hems!

And the correct spelling should be litres.

35 to 40 miles per gallon depends how you are driving and where.

fordcrzy, Nov 15, 5:25am
haha funny you should say that because when i spell it "LITRES" i get just as many people saying that it's "Liters"it's like colour and color

crzyhrse, Nov 15, 8:13am
We're in NZ. It's colour and litres.

Agreed Fully! It annoys the sh1t out of me.
The xxx km per $$ is so misguided. No relevance at all.

MPG is an easy thing to relate to (well at least to most people I know). Its the same thing with PSI, how often on these boards do you see people saying they put 210kPa in their tyres!

kwdriver, Nov 16, 2:52pm
I have to agree with you there.

bellky, Nov 16, 2:58pm
i always thought 10l/100km was about 25mpg. sadly all the cars i drive cannot do this benchmark

crzyhrse, Nov 16, 3:03pm
Only a little bit more often than you see people saying they put 2.1Bar in their tyres.

crzyhrse, Nov 16, 3:05pm
10km/L = 10L/100km = 28mpg (imperial, not US).

bellky, Nov 16, 3:06pm
thanks for that - pretty close

bellky, Nov 16, 3:49pm
actually 10l/100km = about 25mpg american. american gallon is slightly smaller than english and so would get slightly less miles to the gallon

crzyhrse, Nov 16, 3:55pm
Hence, I specified "imperial not US".

moosie_21, Nov 16, 4:00pm
Jeez you guys are useless and diverge a lot! Here, from the site I use constantly. Since you didn't specify a year I'll go based upon the 1994 stats:

Fuel consumption at 10-15 modes, l/100km 8.7
Fuel consumption at 60 km/h, l/100km 4.8

And everything else you could ever want to know about any Primera model:

Yep .I had idea's about MPG years ago but times moved on since then and I don't think miles, gallons or any denomination now other than what's current.
What is the point!

ema1, Nov 16, 6:29pm
I assume an overall average consumption would also come under the "usless" category too would it as that's more or less what most folks work on I would have thought.
But if you want to put a finer point on things well that's OK too I guess.
I myself with my vehicles consumption work on fuel usage say over 10,000km to get a more accurate figure, but even that will vary as no 10,000km span is quite the same as any other previous one.

But if you want to put a finer point on things well that's OK too go on the varying consumption rates at the different speeds I guess but that again defies logic as there are those who mostly drive in urban conditions verses those who drive open road for a fair amount of their driving.
A major variance to be considered too is the actual drivers themselves plus state of tune and condition of said vehicles so the average parameters WILL vary widely but it's the designed/expected economy figures are the ones folks tend to be more interested in I'd say.

If the variations in overall economy vary to a significant degree then it's time to investigate .right!
