We're not sllowed to wear open toed sandles at work, canvas shoes are okay.So what is a canvas shoe gonna do that a sandal ain't if I drop a 30 kilo truck battery on my foot!

Prevent people from seeing your flesh oozing from beneath your split skin as the result of your own stupidity!

morrisman1, Nov 14, 7:11pm
they will keep all your toes from scattering across the floor which makes it easier for the manager to clean up

Not necase. necesseri. nesaceri. just 'cosing stupidity, sometimes I go to work still pissed from the night before :-) "Would you like some grease with those wheel bearings!"Let's upsize that combo!

And you gotta pull them all the way up to your knees

I occasionally wear sandals/jandals when working around home. A couple of times the open toe has tripped me up on a power cord. That is probably what they are aware of.

OSH usually requires safety boots in a workshop environment.

You are right about the truck battery.

Re the truck battery learn some dance movesandget the feet clearwhile the battery is on the way down

elect70, Nov 15, 12:39pm
OSHdont want your bloodsmeared all over the placeas its a risk to others . So must wear closed footwear .Hows your toesJoewant me to call a toe truck !

mrfxit, Mar 4, 4:12am
LMAO . yea already know THAT dance move

Open toe/ Jandles etc are prone to getting hooked on cables/ steel rods etc & can slip off easy., Also expose's the foot to liquid spills /sparks.
A shoe gives you half a second more to move your foot from the intended impact area that the battery is headed for.

Many times in the past, has my foot been dragged out from under a falling object AS it touchs my foot.

I would rather that flap of shoe on top of my foot, getting scraped by a heavy object. . then the top of my bare foot as I drag it out from underneath that heavy object
