For pete's sake

just pulled down the spare Chev 350 engine as it has been tight to turn over, even with a power bar and pipe it is tightish. Pulled the heads off and found Piston size is .060" over, Bores measure 4.050" (Standard Chev bore is 4.000") so that is .010" difference, so it appears the slugs and rings are slightly too big, Crikey, Amazing what you find when you check Shoddy Engine builders work

morrisman1, Nov 15, 7:25pm
ya dont need rings when the pistons bigger than the bore!

fordcrzy, Nov 15, 7:30pm
thats so you get more miles before you get piston slap!

mk3zephyr, Nov 15, 7:46pm
should have just put O'Rings in instead of rings ya reckon lol, oh well the block is junk anyway

boat3, Nov 15, 8:00pm
maybe its a formula 1 engine, and you have to heat the block to get it to turn over! hehe

unclejake, Nov 15, 8:06pm
Eh!

un_known, Nov 15, 9:27pm
umm metal EXPANDS when it gets hot

the-lada-dude, Nov 16, 6:18am
actuallycosworth designed there latestF 1piston so the top of the piston grows enough to deform against the bore wall which adds to the compression seal,
hi UNCLEJAKEyes a lot of high tech/ performance engines are pre heated and oil pressurizedB4 start up to get the correct running clearances.

the-lada-dude, Nov 16, 6:19am
you still racing that anglebox jake !

***UPDATE***
Arn't camshafts supposed to have lobes on them as well!

thunderbolt, Nov 17, 7:59pm
Saves wear on the rockers if the lobes are worn down.

mk3zephyr, Nov 17, 8:02pm
worn down!, 2 or 3 are circular lol

drog, Nov 17, 8:02pm
Saves on speeding tickets too.

should post photo's to show what an absolute mess this engine is in, waste of a 4 bolt block really due to being not looked after.
