From memory, 4EF is an interference motor, but, for a sake of a few dollars, you can chuck another cambelt on, and see if it's OK. I've seen 4AGE motors with broken cambelts, and they didn't bend valves even though they were suppose to.

only the blacktop 20V 4A-GE is interference - all others are non-interference.

familiadude, Nov 15, 8:19pm
so non interference then phil.w!

phillip.weston, Nov 15, 8:23pm
dunno about the E series motors - tried a google search!

familiadude, Nov 15, 8:25pm
yeah with mixed results some say yes some say no

from what I can gather turbo is non interference and non turbo is interference thought it wouldve been the other way around

a.woodrow, Nov 15, 9:23pm
Makes more sense this way - turbo = low compression = more room between piston and valves

mellisa2000, Nov 15, 9:27pm
Dunno on yours. 2E definitely. 16v 4A-GE no, 3S-FE/GE/GTE no
