good vid, agree totally BUT the key is 'SLOW cars fast', these days kids are buying fast cars they cant handle yet & trying to go even faster AND in a lot more populated areas. I did my early hooning in an Austin A35 & 1400 VW Baja out the back roads of West Aucks & loose metal roads out to Huia & Piha THEN started venturing into town.

That hits the nail on the head. Been dropping a few hints to the misses about getting a go cart for the kids to play in, give them a chance to make mistakes and learn before getting behind the wheel of some fast car. Things have changed since cruising in old fords, holdens, valiants, hunters, cortinas etc

I agree, but it's not going to be a winning argument, against falling road tolls over the past couple of decades, that cars shouldn't have all the electronic safety crap in them.Another consequence is that it won't be worth keeping older cars on the road.Already an airbag or ABS warning light which stays on in a 10 yo car can mean a repair cost higher than the depreciated market value of the car, and it's only going to get worse. I went for a drive recently in a new P997 carrera "S", so only one model above the basic 911 nothing too radical, not a GT3, turbo, whatever. It was really very fast indeed, but practically useless on NZ roads, and without any soul left at all. When a Porsche 911 is uninspired and boring (despite being "better" in every way than any previous model of the same designation) I think we're close to the end of the line.If you want something fun to drive, get something older, slower, and with a bit of soul left in it - while we're still allowed.
