You mightbe surprised. my very old (early 70's!) trolly jack which was huge (as in dwarfs my BNT 3 Tonne) was actually made in Taiwan!
I was surprised when I turned it over one day as it looked like some crazy over-built British thing.

Tried it on the neighbours smallish truck with a load of grass and it lifted it effortlessly. Not very scientific I know but gives me hope its in excess of5 ton

Did you lift the whole truck, or just one corner! I can lift one wheel off the ground with my 2 tonne jack on an 8 tonne bus. If you don't know its rating, just say so in the auction.

Lifted back end on dif. all four rear wheels off the ground. Had about 3 mtrs of grass on the deck. No clue on the weight.

We had a few of those at work back in the good old days. Cant remember the make but I do remember they were a bloody good unit with a nice high lift.

Boost it up hoping there might be some oldtimers around today.

But they take lots of pumping to get that last bit of lift.
