Just get a new seat stem. It'll cost less than any coating durable enough for that application much less the time to do it.

If you are going to sell it again before you go I would tend to leave the stickers on. The fact its a Schwinn is what should give it value and make it sell again, I would be keeping them to advertise that. Assuming the stickers are in good condition and all. Sweet bargain you got!

Well me and a mate got cracking onto it on friday arvo before a few beers. Took about an hour and a half all up including ripping it up and glueing it back together. It has come out a million bucks. Didnt bother prepping any surfaces just a quick wipe down and paint straight on. Will put a photo up tomorrow. very pleased with end result
