Theres an HT up for grabs. its a good one. Our daily drivers are non descript everyday sort of cars. I half jokingly said we should consider snapping up another classic for a daily runner and she asked me to make sure it was a good runner.unbelievable, normally she would tell me how much of an idiot i am.gotta keep this up

Carpe Diem. Sieze the Day. I think our Roman Poet friend Horace knew women well.
Either way do it now. who knows how long it will be until the stars align and you are given this opportunity again!

I think you are setting the bar a bit low. Time to up the ante and get approval for something more "interesting".
Yes its fine for you to drive to work, its really economical and cheap to register. No it dosn't need a reverse gear, you just stop the engine and start it again in reverse. Failing that just get out, pick up the front and spin it around. you'll be fine!

whats it got in it bj, the good old 186 with a twin slipper!, sedan or wagon! bloody nice cars or wagons in their day, and still quite presentable, you know theres enough room to hop in beside the motor and close the bonnet for repairs on a wet day eh a hint, the spring washer off one of the carb screws will double as the circlip that pops off the governor in the twin slippers, as you find out after you've driven it down onto the shinglebed palmy side of the gorge, dug a groove with your hands and dropped the tailshaft to put the governor back together cos you've got another 200km to go and first gear just aint funny anymore b ut nice wagons all the same

Its a sedan with a 253. average condition considering its 40 years old, but still a looker.
skin1235,

the old soft cam wear off the lobes 253!, powerglide twin slipper or had a trimatic clipped up it's arse already, surely not the 3sp cruncher still
bigjerry,
Jan 24, 7:21am
a traumatic. but that can change
skin1235,
Jan 24, 7:30am
the police ran those 253's for a while, then when they wore the cam lobes off replaced the cams with 240 wades!, some of the originals were down to 100thou lift left on them, poor things couldn't breath at all the ht never came out with the traumatics fitted, but the powerglide they did ship with had a lovely 2.8:1 diff in them, shrink rings used to let go occasionally and a wheel would walk out the side ( nothing 130 amps couldn't fix at some cockies cowshed - just to get you home mind - and then stayed in there for the duration), the 2.8 would make a VERY economic car today

less than 130k km, been sheded all it's life, 3rd owner currently, they had no kids, the back doors are so stiff to open, came out as the tow kit fitted ( extra leaf in the rears, large tank - 110 ltr, 60 amp alternator, extra row of cores in the rad etc)

in the last 20 minutes my life has changed, I have 'permission' to buy it, well I think thats what 'buy the fkn thing means', although there was an unusual icyness to the way she spoke - perhaps I may leave it a few weeks and prod the waters a bit more lol

we had one similar a few years back, which 'we' sold very cheap to a son, who then sold it to complete the deposit on his house, it took a long time to find any warmth in this house when 'we' sold the last one its a partnership around here, as long as all the good decisions are hers
