Either way, as much as I like that age group of Honda's you can get a lot better car for what that will ultimately cost you.

I was looking to see how old the accords are that are still on the road. I remember a family member had a 79 model. It had a star as the drive position on the auto. Think it was a three speed. I quite liked it as a kid. We had a company accord with the pop up headlights too. Now they are pushing up daisies with one eye open! I liked them too.

I liked those early Accords and pre-popup headlight Preludes too. Pity they were bad for rust in the sills etc. They were pretty sad with the auto but the 5 speed manual ones went very well in the context of the era.

I also liked the Accord EX 1800cc that followed. I think the kiwi popup headlight ones may have been O.K but the Jap one my Father had was an abomination.

The Japanese really had it going on around then and things were a bit backwards to how they are now with regard to bang for buck with Japanese vs Euro.

I would also stretch as far as saying in a lot of cases the Japanese car was the better product.
