Is it possible to import a 1999 3000gt vr4 and have it registered under the special interest vhecial policy!

cuda.340, Jan 25, 9:13pm
is it a low production count vehical!

neville48, Jan 25, 9:18pm
methinx you have to get a signed document/declaration from a registered classic car specialist or club to say that its collectible etc then would follow the beauracracy trail, low production count or not.

Also, does anyone know around about how much it would cost to get registered!

Is this not just a 99 Misti GTO!

vtecintegra, Jan 26, 2:16pm
Assuming its LHD too which might complicate things.

lyndapotty, Jan 26, 2:20pm
Yea, but its too hard to find a twin turbo 99 one over here

lookoutas, Jan 26, 4:36pm
There might be something relating to the vehicle not being available in RHD, before it can be left as a LHD.
Which would mean, "You're snookered"

phillip.weston, Jan 26, 4:40pm
They are called the GTO in Japan and here in NZ, in Australia Europe and the US they are called the 3000GT. Which is it you are after exactly!

lyndapotty, Jan 26, 5:03pm
Dont really care which one i get considering there basically the same, only reason im looking at a 3000gt is because i cant find a 99 GTO anywhere!

lyndapotty, Jan 26, 5:06pm
If there is something relating to that, would i be able to convert it to RHD!

vtecintegra, Jan 26, 5:09pm
That is almost certainly not worth it.

The point that phillip.w was making is what country are you planning on sourcing the car from.

lyndapotty, Jan 26, 5:20pm
Im planning on getting it from Californa, and to me its definaly worth changing it to RHD!

The vehicle (or its make, model and submodel) is identified as being a collector's item in one of the following magazines or their respective websites ??

got a spare $20 to 30k for the conversion

I would say a 3000GT LHD to RHD conversion wouldn't be a big deal - they come either LHD or RHD depending on market so you can easily pick up a donor RHD car for the steering rack, dashboard etc. The RHD GTOs actually run the brake booster on the passenger side with a rod going from from the drivers side, so this could be easily fitted to the LHD car with leaving the factory brake booster and master cylinder in the original spot on the firewall.
