Thinking of replacing the factory speakers cause, well, they're shite.
In the front doors there's a 6" down the bottom, and a tweater up by the mirror adjuster. Have pulled both speakers and both just have two wires disappearing into the door innards.
Now, given that there are also rear speakers, and at the headunit there are only 4 sets of speaker wires, am I right thinking there is a crossover buried somewhere in the door! Or perhaps behind the dash!

The tweeter will probably have a capacitor on it = no crossover
Well I'll be.if I look closely there is a 3.3 thingamies capacitor right next to it. Thanks for that.
Sooo.the two speakers are in parallel!
This is no top end installation, so I'll probably get a 2 or 3 way (in one) replacement for the 6". Assuming they're in parallel I can just disconnect the tweater, install a 6" 3 way and I'm done, yeah!

Yep, they are wired in parallel! You can just leave the tweeter connected if you're not fitting components, it will give much better sound stage having it there :) Obviously you will need to turn the treble down a bit on the head unit to compensate for having 2 or 3 tweeters though lol

Unlikely.just tested them independently and the tweeter is putting out a gnats fart compared to the mid range! I guess it can't hurt to leave it there.
Thanks for the help.

What did you test them with! An AA (or similar) battery!
If so, the tweeter will just 'pop' once, reverse the polarity and it will pop again. It's the cap that makes it do that :) and its normal!

No, tested them as in set fade and balance to left front and listened to them plugged in and not. Tweeter volume is tiny. I guess the tweeters are close to your head though.so don't need much to shift the sound stage.

Ahh. disconnect them if you think they are redundant, it won't hurt anything either way
