Where would I find an S2 bulb rated 12v 40/40w!

any narva dealer or ring griffiths equip but they wont be able to supply to you but will be able to give you the #number

Since your in AKLD, I would check with Dasko, got a feeling the S2 isn't like a std H4 (for example). Does the S2 push bum 1st into the bulb holder! I could be wrong. Check with Dasko or a auto sparky. Any chance of a pic

I'm guessing -perhaps incorrectly that this is in fact a motorcycle bulb.
If it is then in theory you can only buy a genuine bulb from a franchised dealer. I Have in the past purchased a bulb with a slightly different fitting and trimmed the mounting back so its the same as the factory bulb.
