thankyou yes we did like the izuzu. Best for comfort was the pajero.out of interest why do you not recommend towing a boat with SWB, dealer recommended Toyota for long hauls and hill work and economy towing. Toyoto appeared rougher riding than others.

I would of thort for that money you should be able to ppick up a good conition 4 door prado with the 3 litre diesel engine.

keep looking for a Prado. check out the resale when they are up in the k's verses the other ones. that has got to be testimony to the vehicle. go for a LWB Prado if the problem is going to be towing.

I'm no 4WD/SUV enthusiast at all, but my 2c - I would look for either a Pajero (which used to be rated among the most reliable vehicles in Europe, probably due to that Paris-Dakar race winning heritage) or the Prado (which I have great respect for, since being a passenger in one on a weekend away to the Taranaki region. Six males, their gear, and a trailer with 2 quad bikes & 3 trail bikes and it barely noticed the weight when going uphill). I've seen plenty of troublesome Isuzu's.
Make sure it's a diesel rather than a petrol version.

Don't get the Wizard! $15k is too much, dealers are struggling to give them away for $10-12k these days. The Wizard is very out-dated in terms of design and safety.

how big or preferably how heavy is this boat / trailer with all the usual gear on board it!eg of its not a big or heavy boat the swb may be ok

boat is 4.9 metres roughly 750kg would like more info on the pajero if anyone has any thanks. boat wont be towed that often and vehicle only used around town occasionly and longer trips away.

oh and thanks for all the info but still having trouble deciding thre are only two us so a big vehicle is not needed.
