Ive listed a 40 hp Johnson outboard and would like to answer a question placed as to whether its a long shaft or a short shaft. Im pretty sure its a long shaft but don't wish to answer this incorrectly. It measures 60 cm from the transom point of seating to the fin on the outboard above the prop.
Thanks

Just looking at the pic's looks to be a long shaft. as there is a 4" extention housing between the gearbox and leg.

Hi thanks for responding, I just checked and yes there is a 13cm spacer.

5" not 4" ! So yep it is a long shaft - surely the questioner would know that if they were serious!

(going by her feedback) The questioner has previously been and brought an outboard but who knows. The info should be usefull for other bidders anyway.Thankyou for clarifying that.

Long Johnsons seem to be sought after.
