I have heard of it, never seen a doco though. That flip is certainly a design flaw but the 55 crash is more driver than design. That flip is awesome though.

oh no , that was certinally a design fault

as in track design

track saftey only took off after what happened to Lauda

even in the early 90's rally allowed people to line the stages

ah so that explains it, i thought it was a browser problem with it not saving what it had buffered. Thanks

its a good watch though. great story so far, im up to the drivers running to their cars.

The Le Mans incident cause a major review of safety at all tracks around the world. In the video I posted the link to (the 1956 one, the one you quoted) Hawthorn can be heard describing the changes to the Sarthe circuit that took place in just one year. Every big incident has repercussions for safety in motor racing, not just Lauda's fiery crash at the Nurburgring.

You just make this BS up, don't you.

well there ya go, its 1am and i have watched all 4 parts. what a retarded pit lane set up, even in 1955 that must have seemed like a bad idea.

i've been to LeManns & it still looks the same except the cars are faster & so are the women.

your ignorance is excused

nikki lauda was the biggest influence in improving track/driver safety since motor racing got back into gear after WW2

the next biggest revolution happened after ayrtons imola crash

I would have said the Jackie Stewart was the biggest influence on safety. He got the nick name Jock McArmco for his efforts. He was in action before the Lauda crash.

If you remember the Havoc crash videos, footage of the car going through the crowd at speed was on Havoc 1.

I never knew there was footage or stills of the actual collision though. And those interviews with the spectators were harrowing. I think we're fortunate that at 92 Fitch is still alive to contribute his 2c to the story. That documentary was even better than I though it might be.
