A amp power wire fed thru the rear window seal (which was duct taped up to reseal) on a Silvia and fed back thru into the boot.

I have seen a few beauties during my time installing audio. one was an amp 'mounted' (put) under a seat, he had normal 8 gauge power cable (unfused iirc) but his earth was a wire no thicker than a remote wire. It ran from under the seat up to the dash, where it was wrapped loosely around a metal bracket behind the dash. Needless to say, the plastic insulation around the 'earth' was mostly melted and the owner was very very close to starting a fire in his car.

Sigh. Stupidity is what I call it.
Had a farmer go up the road (yesterday) in his big flat deck truck loaded with haybales. One Problem. They weren't stacked right and next time time I see it it's on the back of a Hilton Haulage truck being carried down the road.
The muppet had stacked the bales close (too close) to the exhaust, and the whole lot had gone up in flames.
FFS. I hope that was the trader that moved those photos.

Does the cable lie across the engine, from the battery, or am I seeing it wrong!

is this bad!

HA. You're correct.

It's okay to put an amp under a seat, but what Andrea means is that it wasn't actually secure (mounted), but dumped (or put) loosely under it.
That's how I interpreted.
Sad, but almost regular sight.
Ed: Grammar.

Jono : bingo! Yeah it was placed there, but going by my description of the power and earth, you can probably imagine how bad the rest of the 'install' was too.

How lazy can you get, jeez. Is it really that hard to take away the matting and centre console covering to feed it through the middle of the car!
