Hi there. mrs mm here. I bought a 2002 Opel astra about a month ago. It's done just 47000 kms (odometer certified)and appears to be in great condition. It's just started surging (if that's what you'd call it), making a groaning noise after its been driven for about 15 minutes or so and when you lift the bonnet, everything is very hot. The temperature guage shows midway but certainly it feels and smells hot! Even the post thingy that holds the bonnet up was hot to touch. Any ideas gratefully received as I'm bit poor at the moment and dont really want to have to take it to be serviced right now.It was last serviced in May last year. Thank you.

Thanks guys. I've spoken with a mechanic and booked in for next Monday. What is obd! Sorry, I'm a good nurse but not so much with mechanics and the abbreviations!

Any problems the car's ECU has identified. Usually though if it does find something you will get a CEL dash indicator showing there is a problem.

Yay for me. It was just the AC and I wasn't even charged for the diagnosis. There are some genuinely nice people around aren't there! Thanks for all your posts. A happy Mrs mm
