My car went in for panelbeating on the front fender but the clutch had gone due to wear and tear so they say! I think they took my Commodore SS and thrashed it beause they waived the panelbeating and the labour cost to replace the clutch. I think they are feeling guilty. Car is making a whirring noise now which they its related to the clutch.
Any suggestions I'm totally stressing out because I feel I'v been ripped off!

ok. let me understand. You have a garage near you that does both panel work and mechanical repairs! they fixed the panel but didnt charge you, instead they charged you for a repair on the clutch! The whirring noise.well that might be thrust bearing which can come about from a half assed clutch repair, and any garage that does both panel and mechanical is likely to be a jack of all trades and a master of none. fill us in more.

First of all difficult to reply in depth as my computer is broken and Im doing this from my phone. He is a panelbeater tutor at a place in Onehunga that was referred by a friend :( but he says they do mechanical work too. I understand what you mean. They only asked me to pay the cost of the part only.

DODGE. SOunds like they took it out and thrashed the tits off it. Should have reset the odometer before you left it with them, it's what I do if I go into somewhere I haven't been before.

The fact that they have waived the labour and panel cost is an admission of guilt on their behalf. No business would do this if your clutch had just worn out. Why does a panel repair need a test drive. Get all your km readings sorted, go back in an give them one more chance to put the problem right. If they dont tell them you are taking them to the small claims court. Who are these guys so i can avoid ever going there.

I Agree, sounds like they (young fella) caned the car and the clutch, and are now trying to smooth it over and "just the parts charge" mate--Tui's.Yeah Right. 300km! I suppose you have already paid! Do you have the car!

well holy hell iatem, sounds to me like they took your car and drove it like they stole it. Heres what i reckon you do, down a 4 shot flat white and do a few stretches, get some facts together, go down and spit the f'en dummy and get an admission from them, then grab a fire extinguisher off their wall, give old 'does everything jim' a quick spray in the face to catch him off guard, then take said fire extinguisher and smash him in the chops, then when you leave, line up his car with your towbar, reverse at high speed until you feel his car disintegrate. Tell him thats what you get for thrashing a car you have no right to thrash. then go home and plan the real revenge. Thats what i would do.

but yeah.theres always that unfortunately

Thanks guys I cant go in depth if you read it properly because Im typing on my phone. I got the reading wrong because Im human and made a mistake. Never the less the facts are true. I like the idea of beating him the hell up but wont solve anything.I need to stop clowns like the idiot from doing it again. I will update tomorrow when I get access to a real computer.

I took a photo of the spedo before he took it and just made a note of the spedo tonight.136016km is the reading now he took it when it had 135635kms on the clock= 381kmsMy wife has only drove it to work Thursday and Friday only 27kms to work and back a total of 54kms. He drove from Manukau to manukau then to the workshop in Onehunga. I guess about 30kms all up. I can answer any question in depth tomorrow

I'm so sorry, what a horrible situation, you must be gutted. :( I rang the insurance co once when in a similar situation, no where near as bad as yours though. Insurance co (AMI) were very helpful, and told me exactly what to do about it. Hope you get it sorted, insurance claim is the way to go i reckon.

because it aint just your clutch thats getting flogged when its done
your whole drivetrain has been on the receiving end of pure abuse , & will be prematurely aged because of it
(if true)
