Sounds like a jammed or bent Johnson rod. Try releasing it with compressed air and if that fails to kick it into life then you may have to replace it. Be careful if you remove it that you take careful note of which way it is installed as it will fit both ways, but only works one way. One end is magnitised and the other is not.

It sounds as though you have a polarity conscious key. These must only be used with the left hand as they were originally designed for the American left hand drive market.

Have you tried pushing the big black 710 button on top of the engine!
