bumper car time

trademerob, Dec 31, 2:26pm
Aahh. So your a poser who is unable to drive that fancy car.

owene, Dec 31, 2:26pm
Track them down and beat them up with your wet flannel. They will never repeat the crime.

skin1235, Dec 31, 2:42pm
this nothing new, had about 6 or 7 attempts to pass a slow driver, everytime I pulled out she would speed up, three cars behind her, we all tried at various time to no avail, this is from ashurst through to the final attempt cobham bridge wanganui on a run home from dannevirke
at cobham bridge and at near 145km hr I finally got so frustrated I turned left
her car took gravel and then flipped
she had 2 kids asleep on the back seat

one of the other cars was occupied by a bank manager from woodville, she called him as a witness in the ensuing court case but that backfired cos he told of his attempts as well

I got careless use then convicted and discharged

but I'd never do it again, those kids rolling around in that car as it slid up the road behind me still haunt me, they were fine, not even a bruise, but I'm never going to risk that or worse again

I'm over 60 now, this was back in '69

therafter1, Dec 31, 2:56pm
An idiot ! . you just have to suck it up.

But whatever you do, do NOT exceed the posted speed limit by 4kph, you are a danger to everyone else on the road !

nettiejenks, Dec 29, 11:43pm
We were coming home on boxing day and moved into overtaking lane. A vehicle was already ahead of us in lane. It appeared to slow down and then didn't move to left after passing other vehicle, driver clearly knew we were behind them as could see them looking at us in rear vision mirror. Later, at bottom of Rimutaka Hill, tried to overtake again and same thing happened. They clearly bloked up from overtaking. Could see them looking in mirror again for a reaction and when they got one they clearly reacted with glee.Considered reporting them as this to us is pathetic and how accidents (esp. as this time of year) happen. Are we over-reacting or was this an idiot on our roads! (took down number plate).

kazbanz, Dec 29, 11:46pm
The police are soposed to be focussing on slower drivers doing exactly this. I'd dobb em in an instant on the simple basis that some frustrated driver is likely to have a head on because of them

shelleigh, Dec 29, 11:51pm
I'd report them because they stayed in the passing lane AFTER passing.
Ignorant gits!

shelleigh, Dec 29, 11:52pm
just searched passing lane road code new zealand as I was sure there would be something about staying in the left lane UNLESS passing
http://nzta.govt.nz/resources/roadcode/about-driving/using-lanes-correctly.html

ofive, Dec 29, 11:57pm
I also had that on the taka's. Youngish fella too-early/mid 20s, i were shocked as i were expecting an old bstard.

trogedon, Dec 30, 12:00am
OP. If they were doing the speed limit - they should've moved over still but you should've have been going any faster.

nettiejenks, Dec 30, 12:00am
Yeah, they didn't appear to be old, but we never ended up overtaking them - just wasn't worth it.
Just uncertain that we got their number plate they may have got our too and could look up our details and cause more trouble if we report it.

edangus, Dec 30, 12:01am
Meh, don't lose any sleep over the tosser.

Leave the cops to do the more important jobs of Christmas mate.

That sort of idiot always gets it sooner or later.

rscozzie, Dec 30, 12:06am
just pass him on 1 of the other lanes either side lol

gammelvind, Dec 30, 12:08am
I drive basically full time as a rep, sorry to say see this type of thing often. Usually by an old man but probably because I am getting older seeing younger men playing the same stupid games.
In bad instances I have reported them via *555, but mainly just shake my head and let them move on so I arn't involved in their stupid accidents.

chris_051, Dec 30, 12:26am
It is frustrating and happens all the time but it will go un policed. But ask yourself, if it is actually necessary to pass, especially at this time of the year with high traffic volumes. Chances are you wont be ahead of that car when you hit the lights at Upper Hutt or the missus wants to pull over at some shops 20 min down the road.

nettiejenks, Dec 30, 12:28am
It's been a few days now, so probably won't end up doing anything.
Couldn't tell for sure, but looked like it might have been a female (short one in a Ford Falcon as had to really reach to the middle console), with a male passenger. Not sure of age, but didn't seem to be that old.

dvince, Dec 30, 1:22am
I think the idiot would try to justify his actions because he thought you were following too close. I dont get it, why not just let them pass.

cmjury1, Dec 30, 1:24am
n
i was going to say i hope it wasnt me i lost my indicators on the way home and it was pissing down i was going about 80- 90

nettiejenks, Dec 30, 1:33am
That's just the thing, traffic wasn't heavy at all, just the occasional slow vehicle and we made sure we held back. The only one tail gating was the git in question (didn't mention that before but they were doing that to the vehicles they were behind on the hill as well). We'd already been on the road for several hours so really didn't need that sort of trash so close to home. Amazing how many cops we didn't see on the roads!

taipan4, Dec 30, 1:35am
we all do it "passing" but at the end of the day it achieves nothing as we stop at the gas station or "subway" and grandad tootlespast in his 1965 Vauxhall about 3 minuetes later(who we passed earlier)

dvince, Dec 30, 1:37am
4 weeks ago some drunk idiot female I was following rammed my car twice (infront of her own house!) She was driving slow in the middle of the road and wouldnt let me pass.

Result: she lost her licence for 6 months, 60 hours community service and a bill of almost $2k from my insurance.

What makes it worse is she still has a stink attitude and blames me, even tho she shouldnt have been on the road in the first place.

magicmat, Dec 30, 1:41am
Yep I see this almost every day and it infuriates me no end. I want to beat them senseless but I guess the legal way of reporting them makes more sense.

moosie_21, Dec 30, 1:45am
Same thing happened to me once, car full of teenage idiots in their Honda knowing what they were doing. Next passing lane, they passed someone and I went past them in the left lane, beeping as I went past. Guess they didn't realise 5 of them and all their backwards caps weighed down their car vs just me in mine.

shuddupowh, Dec 30, 2:23am
Thats true but at least you didnt have to put up with the slow-assed driving for the last 10kms or so before your stop. Thats why I only bother passing if I know we arent going to stop for ages and we are coming to a twisty roads with no pass lanes.
