i know where there is a 96 superjet for sale but its not on tm yet

96-08 year range went unchanged.

the ski i refer to has all the pieces you want on a pole ski, including a after market pipe (coffmans sizzler), foot holds, pole limiting strap, front hull sponsons, carbon fibre hull extensions at the rear, Worxintake grate, solas stainless impellor, riva groovy extended ride plate, lightened pole spring, shortened pole, bilge pump, hydro turf etc etc etc

Thanks r15, But i've decided to go for a sitdown ski as it's better suited to me at the moment. I think a poleski will come after :)

johnf_456, Feb 15, 2:19am
Good choice, pretty much any ski can tow a biskit or a water ski for the sit down. Great fun even if they are early 90's model like one I rid the other weekend. Also check the hull for any signs of cracking, they start getting costly later on. If repairs are needed, as well checking the oil feeder lines for oil injected 2 stroke models. Then look for the usual mechanical things like knocks, to rich, to lean, any odd noises.

charles.j, Feb 15, 2:35am
Thanks. I'll keep that all in mind.

If I were to buy, I'd probably get it checked by a mechanic before hand anyway. But i'll certainly keep an ear out for the good old knocking sound

Gut instinct and service record go a long away. Hopefully I will see you out on the water one day.

charles.j, Feb 15, 2:41am
Yep. I'm pretty confident with engines. However having never owned a jetski there will be those little things I don't know. I've noticed that the engine mounts are something to watch too

Thanks for the help!

johnf_456, Feb 15, 2:44am
Yup engine mounts are a good one, especially if its been driven in the surf a lot they get a beaten, then flow of water if its a open cooling circuit. Some are closed. You looking at 2 or 4 strokes!

charles.j, Feb 15, 2:46am
Two strokes. So that'd be an open circut!

johnf_456, Feb 15, 2:46am
Depends, alot are but not all.

charles.j, Feb 15, 2:48am
Ok sweet

johnf_456, Feb 15, 7:23am
Well how would you know im not a paying customer I havent given you my full name. My name on my profile is a nick name only and my name after jfk. . I also would not self promote your services in here, just a word of warning
. So I dont know how you would assume that on your database. The advise you gave was mis leading compared to what two other people heard instantly and knew if its normal or not.

Age is not always a bad thing, just like cars. Always two sides and no doubt you would defend yourself, especially the attiude.

jetskibum1, Feb 15, 8:10am
Sorry I have done my home work, I know who you are and I find your threats not quite in accordance with trade me rules. I have never billed you for a job so you can not feel hard done by. My service quality stands for itself and is judged by those who have HAD work done by me and my reputation is judged by them also but as for my attitude, I welcome every new customer to decide for themself. Best left at that but I guess you will want the last word.

johnf_456, Feb 15, 8:23am
Well you dont have my full name etc, a trademe nickname. So that would not indentify my real life full name. So unless you hacked trademe and the interwebs you would not know my real name pal. Has profile and trademe name is not even close to my real name, my account is also a shared account. So care to explain how you think you know I am. Im not threating you just saying you may get caught promoting like others have done in the past.

Some jobs have been great others not so good.

johnf_456, Feb 15, 7:59pm
Yeah tell me about I get the blacklist as well, obviously can't say the truth. Maybe its something about the petrol head attitude of blokes. I'm not against him just saying in the jobs he did for me "paid jobs" about 18 months ago I was not happy with and a friend had the same. But maybe you just don't know the ski that well we have(hence you comparing the other newer models), there is a lot of ski's and they are all different so maybe thats why. But anyway I do take offense to it been a so called 'threat' and blacklisted. We are all human we all get things wrong, no one is perfect, you may think you but we are not machines. I am merely advising people to be alert, so I think a blacklist shows everyone what sort of person you are.

@jetskibum1

As nice as it is that you've come in here to defend yourself, I'm not overly interested in how long you've been a dealer or whether you know these people personally and dislike them.

The only useful piece of information you contributed was:

"Sea Doo only support thier craft with ongoing parts for ten years"

johnf_456, Feb 15, 8:27pm
Any updates on the hunt charles! Narrowed it down yet!

It'll either be an XP or GTX

The only thing that is annoying me is insurance. I'm with state for everything (Cars, house, contents etc) and they don't do ski's. Only AMI seem to :s

johnf_456, Feb 15, 8:31pm
AMI are good for insurance, since they are my provider. They give me a nice deal, regardless of what you choose it will be fun no matter what. Too much of a water baby here.

charles.j, Feb 15, 8:35pm
Yea AMI seem good. It wasn't much to get the ski insured anyway. They even said they would give me a discount because of my day skippers.

Yep, it'll most certainly be fun. As much as I enjoy sailing and time out on the bigger boat. A jetski for myself would be nice.

charles.j, Feb 16, 11:31pm
Hmmm, I'm seeing a few with "over sized pistons"

Does that reduce reliability!

unideck, Feb 17, 1:20am
Why would it. Short answer is NO.

charles.j, Feb 17, 5:40am
Yea I realized how stupid that question was just after I posted it lol

charles.j, Dec 14, 8:43pm
Anyone have a stand up poleski!

I'm thinking about getting one. A friend of mine used to have a Yamaha super jet which was really good fun, however coming from a background of only power boating and sailing I know nothing about jet ski's and what to look for.

Any tips!

charles.j, Dec 14, 9:05pm
Riding them I have no problem with. By my second go I was standing up and jumping waves.

Thanks for the heads up. Service history and engine condition was already on my list.

I'll add the water seals to the list too.

I was also told to check the rubber engine mounts!

charles.j, Dec 15, 12:39am
Thanks for that.

Not sure what I want to do yet. I won't be a crazy user (pulling a submarine or backflip etc). I'm just trying to see how old is too old now
