$1 reserve and find out what it's really worth

jonthefisho, Jan 2, 5:03am
Remember it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
The $1 reserve is probably a good starting point.

p_rock, Jan 2, 5:05am
Some bright colours.

If that were the case, everyone would max bid $1, lol.

Are the other auctions getting many bites! Start with $5000, reserve $6000 and go from there. But it all depends on how much you're wanting.

attitudedesignz, Jan 2, 5:08am
But that does not mean market value does it!

IF you COULD $1 reserve the same car 10 times within 10 days you would get 10 completely different figures.

attitudedesignz, Jan 2, 5:09am
LOL, i'm not a fan of .shall we say 'boring' colours.

phillip.weston, Jan 2, 5:11am
It is a near 20 year old 300,000+kms Commodore, at least it is a ute which tends to hold its value a bit better due to its commercial nature. The paint job may not appeal to everyone, at least that green is a bit more tasteful than the burnt orange which looks out of place on that BMW.

I would have figured around $4000-5000 to be honest.

trogedon, Jan 2, 5:14am
The ks = low, the manual to the right person = a small price premium. Tricky.

attitudedesignz, Jan 2, 5:16am
The reason i'm thinking of flicking it is i've upgraded the shop ute and thinking 'bout getting a later model Commodore wagon for SWMBO (she who must be obeyed).

attitudedesignz, Jan 2, 5:17am
That's what i was thinking to trog', floorshift manuals aren't too common.

phillip.weston, Jan 2, 5:19am
I just figured someone who is going to be spending $7k+ on a 2WD ute is going to want something later model, and perhaps even more durable.

whqqsh, Jan 2, 5:19am
I sold mine about 2 years ago, not as 'pretty'as yours (white, Tridents, 5 speed man floor shift, HSV kit & sideskirts, buckets etc etc), for 5k, took 3 times on here to get the 1 bid that took it away yet have seen utes a lot worse go for more. Depends on who's out there at the time

johnf_456, Jan 2, 5:29am
Have a look in the expired auctions, there maybe the odd one. Haven't looked myself but yeah, good luck selling it.

msigg, Jan 2, 5:30am
yea go with phillip. Nothing worse that waiting too long to sell something. just get rid. A few dollars her or there means nothing in the end.

unbeatabull, Jan 2, 5:30am
What I would do - set it as a classified, with the offer price being what you want for it - this way theres room for bargaining without you risking the chance of letting it go to cheaply.

Only downside is that in my experience they tend to take a bit longer to sell.

clark20, Jan 2, 6:44am
Hi, I like your car however I am offshore working on an oil rig, I will pay by paypal.

I hate selling cars

edangus, Jan 2, 6:49am
Anything more than 4K and you are winning.

I bought a newer 740 for that with 1/2 the kms on soo.

Its a buyers market. If it had a V8 well you would probably get 6K +

attitudedesignz, Jan 2, 7:10am
And the relevant comparison would be!

I've had 13 BMWs now and i know they are worth nothing.

The last 7 series i had was a E38 750iL, V12 with 89,000km sold for $8500.

edangus, Jan 2, 7:13am
You can get a lot for your buck these days. Not knocking your ute. Choices today are rather varied. $4K + can get you a very decent vehicle.

Like I said, if it was an 8 someone would snap it up in 5 secs

jimane, Jan 2, 7:18am
id say 3-5k

attitudedesignz, Jan 2, 7:28am
Oh i totally agree mate, that's why we will be sticking to Commodores for shop ute & the 2nd family car, otherwise it'd take me months to decide what to buy LOL.

friendly_prawn, Jan 2, 7:53am
$4000's about my idea of what its worth.

trogedon, Jan 2, 7:27pm
I'm sure you're now completely clear on the for sale price now attitudedesignz

kazbanz, Jan 2, 10:33pm
AD--as descriibed I'd say its worth 3-4k. My advice to you would be to paint the door shuts andthe front fenders under the bonnet. It sounds silly but that work I feel will get you closer to 4k

magicmat, Jan 2, 10:44pm
Personally wouldnt touch it due to the 300k on the clock. In saying that its not a bad looking ute for its age and if I was looking for something like this I would be looking at 3k ish price.

friendly_prawn, Aug 6, 12:11pm
true, that would be a big turn off for me. One of the reasons I dont think it will fetch anymore than 4k.
